Another new cushion cover.

I have started my cable cushion cover re using the yarn from a bag I had previously made and didn't like the finish of it.  So now it will be a cushion cover beaded maybe???

Cushion completed Anzac day

Just finished sewing on the buttons but I will need to cover the insert.  So I now have to pull out my fabric stash from under the bed to find a suitable lining. ....hmmm a colour or white? ?

Coat Hangers April 2013

coat hangers botttom with shell edging top with point edging

Coat hanger with block edging

I needed mor coat hangers after going through my stored winter clothing, of which I might add is fewer than last year as they are all too big for me.

So after laundering the musty out of them, I ran out of hangers and found that I had 5 wooden ones that you can cover.

So with Sullivans Coton-a 5 ply crochet yarn and 5 mm hook in hand I whipped 2 up on the weekend and completed my third one today.

I am in the process of writing up the pattern for these if any one is interested, as I still have 2 more hangers to cover and to make different edges for them.

They dont take long to make which was just as well as we had a very busy weekend with the National titles for The Surf Clubs Carnival.

Now as for the weight loss, I went to the gym today and my trainer Malani even commented that she could see that I am changing shape. Malani also doesnt believe in scales like me - let your clothes tell you that you are losing the weight.

well its not completed yet and this is how far i have gotten due to my crohns flaring up. Its all the stress of San Chelsea and the owners expectations and Rod's expectations and Adams expectations and mine of course.

I have stopped going to the gym this week so i can rest as I have no energy but pain. Even went to a naturopath for live blood work yesterday. Interesting to see my immune system doing double time.
The tablets have arrived this afternoon and now I have started a 2 week course. I am also detoxing but i am still going to have a drink for my birthday on Thursday if i can stomach it otherwise i will have to catch up the following week.

New cushion project

Yes it is now late Sunday St Patricks day and i have just started a new project as i have these uncovered cushions that need covering. Though I should possibly start my poncho for winter as I stated in my last blog I am madly trying to attend the gym 6 days a week. I am also aiming to look nice for my birthday on the 28th March 2013.

The gym thing is for me and my health. This will also give me strength to continue on knitting and crocheting, the latter being what i am mostly doing at the moment. Aso bieing healthier helps me to keep my crohns in check.MMMMM Adam has just popped some popcorn and the fragrence is whafting abut the room.  Making me feel a bit peckish.... where are the almonds and now its after five so maybe a glass of wine.

Completed

The front of my new cushion. I used Panda Regal cotton 4ply. An old Patons pattern that i adapted to fit the size18 cushion, which i covered in gold fabric with zip. I do like to be able to launder all layers of the cushion, plus i also change the covers from season to season or as the mood takes me. I also hand stitched a zip into the crochet cover as well.

craft past

Crocheted many years ago in size 10 thread. Jenette has displayed this with her lovely lamp.

I made this a long time ago using the granny squares from Mums  vest that i made in my teens. The centre squares would be OH say 35 years old and the rug was made about 20 years ago. It was the first rug I made Jenette and Nigel.

This rug was made from a New Zealand mohair yarn that i had in my stash. I still love the colour. Must make one for myself. This i made when i started going out with Rod. I remember one road trip driving back on a foggy night i had this over my knee keeping me warm. Jenette uses this now. Hopefully not for the cat. It is one large granny square. with a picot edging. it is about 9 years old.
Now this rug I gave to Jenette and Nigel for a Christmas present 3 years ago now. It is made up of left over yarns in my stash. Plus a jumper of Mums that i pulled apart that i made from alpaca yarn. ALL wool some 8 ply some 5 ply. It is large enough for a queen bed. I originally made this for us but Rod didn't like it. Lucky that Jenette and Nigel love this rug as they use it all the time. And i washes well too. This herringbone stitch and i chained 300 - 4mm hook and i think it was a 6 or 8 stitch repeat. Must look that up as i think i will make one for us in different cream yarns..... Nest winter.
As you can see from 4 samples of my work they do get used and do last a long time. Now is the time to get going again. I actually did start to knit a jacket for my self last winter but that is in the trunk and i did start and nearly finished a crochet vest in a light denim blue cotton/bamboo yarn....but i am now at the gym and actually concentrating on my weight and health so i hope to lose some weight. Thus clothing items are now on hold. I can make rugs, cushion covers, hats, scarves, art etc etc... instead.

Back again.

Hi I know it has been a long time since my last post. But with illness and selling Fabrics Plus and working on San Chelsea I've been rather busy.
So now catch up time.
I made the ear covers for my head set as the foam covers had perished.  I am quite chuffed and they feel comfortable.
